October Is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The physicians and staff of Advanced Medical Imaging want to remind you that early detection is a woman’s best defense.  Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death among women, exceeded only by lung cancer. Statistics demonstrate that one in eight women will develop breast cancer sometime in her lifetime and the stage at which breast cancer is detected influences a woman’s survival.

Advanced Medical Imaging offers cutting-edge digital mammography technology at both of its convenient locations in Old Bridge and Toms River, NJ.   This advanced screening tool aids in the early detection of breast cancer, when it is critical for successful diagnosis and treatment.  Digital technology also allows the clinician to store each image in a computer where it can be enhanced, magnified, or manipulated for further evaluation all while delivering less radiation and faster results than conventional mammography.

The American Cancer Society recommends that woman over 40 receive screening mammograms every year. However, those who are at increased risk due to a genetic history of breast cancer should seek expert medical advice about whether they should begin screening before age 40 and the frequency and type of screening needed.

The market features local businesses who provide farm fresh fruits & vegetables, baked goods, dairy products, breads etc., as well as other township businesses.

Advanced Medical Imaging supports the American Cancer Society in their Relay for Life

Advanced Medical Imaging is proud to have been the “Fight Back” sponsor of the American Cancer Society’s “Relay for Life” in Old Bridge on June 5^th and 6^th 2010 at the Old Bridge YMCA.  

This first time event for Old Bridge was an astounding success, bringing together community members to RELAY and FIGHT BACK against cancer.  The night brought in 260 participants, 45 survivors and 39 teams and raised a total of $50,000!    

The AMI Cares team, consisting of employees and their families, earnestly came together to support the cause! We are sincerely grateful to those who supported us with their generous donations to help with our fundraising efforts.

2) Advanced Medical Imaging announces new GE Discovery PET/CT scanner. 

Advanced Medical Imaging of Old Bridge has just installed our GE Discovery DST Integrated PET/CT system. Being the first truly integrated PET/CT the Discovery STE adapts to your changing needs leading us into the future. 

High quality imaging 

This system allows for 2D, 3D and 4D acquisition images yielding exceptional image quality in any mode. With the use of Vue Point HD Technology visualization of approximately 2-3mm lesions is possible. Images are available in real-time while scanning occurs with improved quantitative accuracy and motion-free PET/CT. There are full diagnostic CT capabilities with PET. 

Patient care and comfort 

With patient comfort in mind The GE Discovery DST was designed with a shorter bore reducing the possibility of claustrophobia. Larger patients can now be accommodated due to the bigger gantry size. Improved workflow has reduced the amount time needed for each exam which equates to lower radiation doses for each patient.

Advanced Medical Imaging of Old Bridge believes that “Mammography Saves Lives”. With that in mind we have just installed the Hologic Selenia Digital Mammograpy system which provides more insightful breast exams through higher quality images. 

Quality 

Selenia uses selenium based direct capture technology which eliminates light diffusion completely for perfect clarity and exquisite image quality. Selenia incorporates HTC grid technology that delivers higher contrast images by significantly reducing radiation scatter without increasing dose. 

Patient benefits 

Selenia uses a tungsten x-ray tube with rhodium and silver filters reducing radiation dose to the patient while maintaining superb image quality. Selenia offers compression paddles that angle to optimize patient comfort.
